Everything clown

An update on my clownsculpt, still in progress. I need to work on the pose, there's no sense of weight especially on her legs and feet. The colors are really dull and grey atm, her suit will be more towards a warm, golden tone. Haven't really worked on it for a while, probably because I didn't make any sketches or concepts for it when I started. But I'm not giving up on her yet.

An idea I had for a little clown guy a while back, might as well post it since I'm not sure what will happen to it in the future,

Some christmas sculpting

A bit of experimenting with panel loops in Zbrush 4R6. I had this sketch I made a week ago that I used as a reference. The process was quick and I had a lot of fun with the swirlies. I do love them swirlies.

Bust of the day

It's been a lot of work lately, so I haven't had time to blawg. But today I finally had a day of so I made this sculpt I've been thinking about. It's a quick dynamesh bust, kind of inspired by Kris Kuksi who is an awesome artist. http://kuksi.com/artworks/sculpture/

I started this one of with a cylinder in Zbrush and just sculpted away, mostly using claytubes, inflate and a custom cut brush for details. I'm not superhappy with the hair atm, but it'll do for now.

Wipsey Wiperton III, duke of wip.

Hey it's a wip! This is an idea I've had for a while, of making an albino girl and some kind of circus/ freakshowey theme. Now there's a tigercub too, I don't know what happened.

Yep, it's time for pug again

An old dynamesh pug I started a long time ago. I made a rough sculpt of the cranium first, just to get the shape of the head somewhat correct. It was still pretty darn tricksey with all the wrinkles!

A quick painting today. A portrait of my dear sister who dyed her hair pink.  Ca 1 hour.

Updated showreel and a nerdy guy

I updated my showreel, so now it's full of summer-freshness! Just click the thingy above to watch.
And also, a quick nerd-sketch.

An old mirror

A render exercise I've been messing around with. I modeled the swirly frame in Zbrush using one alpha to inflate the frame and then another to hide and erase the polys around it, and then Decimation master to reduce the polys before exporting it to Maya. Since I didn't have any displacement maps, it was pretty quick to render in Mental ray. The wireframe aint pretty, but it works fine for testing out shaders. I used a HDRI image with Final gather for this image.

Tuesday Lemmy

I always wanted to make a sculpt of this guy. I'm going to add more wrinkles and pores and other fancy details, but here's a quick render. No dynameshes this time, instead I made the basemeshes within Zbrush. The only thing modeled in Maya is the shirt.

The tattooed lady project.

I started a new project, the tattooed lady. She's going to be an old timey tattooed lady from the 20s. I'm going to do some retopo to fix the stretchy looking topolog (I re-used an old basemesh). The hair is Dynamesh atm. I have a lot of plans for textures, we'll see how this week turns out. If anyone has any critique or tips you are most welcome to share!

Swirlie face v 2.0

My swirlieface bust, rendered in Mental ray and then some Nuke comp. I ended up with going for a lower resolution displacement map and a 4 k normalmap for the details. Mental ray gets really cranky when it comes to rendering displacment maps so I thought I could cut my poor putie some slack that way.

I wanted a bronzie, old look so I used the mia material shader with maps for diffuse, reflectivity and as mentioned normal map for the bump. In Nuke I only used the beautypass, and an extra lightpass.

This old thing

Finally starting to get rid of that life long enemy called "Finishing projects". I'm starting to get to know Zbrush better, which makes work so much faster. This one's got some custom materials and light-cap.

More rock stuff

A character strip from Zbrush including Gherbsern guitarr.

A rock/punk something or other

I started this sculpt like a year ago, then totally forgot about it. I found it again when I was going through one of my old hard drives and decided to finish it. So here's a wip, there's some tattoo-work left and maybe a cool print for the shirt.

Aaand an update on Red queen. It feels like a super slow process getting the render to look good. Still have a lot of hair work and other problems left to solve but here's where I'm at right now. Lighting is very simple for now. Note to self: become lighiting genius.

Speed sculpt. Another lady!

A Zbrush speed sculpt from the past week. No concept, I just wanted to try out some brushes and techniques to speed up the sculpting process. I mostly used some variations of Dam standard brush and clay buildup. Just trying to keep it simple. The whole thing including lighting, rendering and comp in PS took about 5 hours, minus a few coffee brakes.

1920s girl thingy.

Thought I'd work on some facial expressions with this one. Render in Zbrush and then Photieshopped.
